How to Vote ....Voting is compulsory.....
Queensland state elections use full preferential voting. This means you must number every box on your ballot paper in your order of preference starting with placing number 1 alongside your preferred candidate, then you must number all the boxes in any order you choose. The choice is yours. However, for your vote to count you must number every box.
For example, if there are five candidates, you must number the boxes with 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 in any order you choose. If there are three, then you must number 1, 2, and 3 in any order you choose. There are always instructions on the ballot paper to help you. You can also ask an ECQ polling official at the polling booth for help in understanding the instructions.
